Sneak Peak for Chuckanut’s Skagit Tulip Ale

Every year Chuckanut Brewery makes a new Skagit Tulip Beer to celebrate the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival during the month of April. This year’s Skagit Tulip Ale is a delightful beer using experimental hop HBC1134 from WA state’s Haas Hops. And of course, as in every year, the Skagit Tulip brew uses malts from Skagit Valley Malting. These grains are grown in the Northwest region and malted by Chuckanut’s neighbor Skagit Valley Malting. A sneak preview of the beer will take place at South Nut Tap Room (in the heart of Skagit Valley) on March 25, Saturday, at 4 pm. A very small gravity keg of unfiltered Keller Skagit Tulip Ale will be tapped and $1 of every beer will be donated in support of Lydia Place in honor of Women’s month. If you want to taste this beer make sure to arrive on time. Pixie Sisters Creation will also have a pop up at the Tap Room with locally crafted jewelry.

This year’s Skagit Tulip Ale was a collaboration with Haas Hops. The experimental HBC 1134 hop was created with sustainability in mind. The hops provide floral, citrus and herbal flavors and aromas. Tulip Ale is rounded out and balanced with the inclusion of Skagit Valley Malts. Each year the malt is different and in 2023 Chuckanut has used a combination of Climate Select and Talisman Pilsner malts. This is an uncomplicated beer that has aromas of lemon and biscuit with a bright balanced finish. Skagit Tulip Ale is a great accompaniment to seafood dishes or the perfect beer just on its own for light refreshment. The official tapping of this year’s Skagit Tulip Ale will begin on Friday March 31 in anticipation of the Tulip Fest that begins April 1.

Chuckanut Brewery brews award winning Lagers and Ales and has won Large Brewery of the Year at WA Beer Awards 2017, 2019 and 2021 and Small Brewery at the GABF 2011. The production facility and Tap Room is in Skagit Valley at 11937 Higgins Airport Way, Burlington, WA. Chuckanut Brewery’s P. Nut Beer Hall is at 920 SE Caruthers St, Portland.  Both locations welcome guests of all ages and have indoor and outdoor seating! Skagit Farm to Pint Breweries Collaborate to Create 50th Anniversary Beer Series for Skagit Valley Food Co-op

The Skagit Valley Food Co-op is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2023, and is working with Skagit Farm to Pint breweries to launch a Golden Jubilee Beer Series!

Golden Jubilee – a fancy way to say the Skagit Valley Food Co-op is celebrating its 50th! And what better way to celebrate 50 years of cooperation than bringing together four local breweries to create a series of brews just for the Co-op? The series is a collaboration between District, Farmstrong, North Sound, and Temperate Habits – a little co-hoperation, if you will – and they’re delighted to kick the series off with the release of its CoHop Anniversary Ale, and IPA. Brewed just a hop-skip from its beloved Co-op, the CoHop is a nod to the magic of working together to offer our community something delicious, like the Co-op does, and has done since 1973. …because we all get by with a little hop from our friends.

The CoHop Anniversary Ale will be on tap at all four breweries and available in cans at the Co-op starting March 21st. They will continue the Golden Jubilee Series with another beer release this summer and a cider in the fall.

CoHop Bar Hop

Thirsty for more? Drink like a local on a CoHop bar hop. You can enjoy a fresh pour of the Anniversary Ale at each of the breweries, and check out other specials and events while you’re at it. All in Mount Vernon, and all open daily. Visit their websites for updates, or just pop in!

This big bier is a strong, reddish-golden ale with a 10.3% ABV. Chuckanut Barleywine has the characteristics of a marriage between the American and English style barleywine ale. Nut Beer Hall in Portland and South Nut Tap Room in Skagit Valley.

That’s not all Chuckanut has going on for Black Friday. Merchandise specials will also start and continue until December 23.
