There is plenty to look forward to this St. Patrick’s Day at both Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen at 601 W Holly St, Bellingham and Chuckanut Brewery South Nut at 11937 Higgins Airport Way, Burlington. The month of March will include Irish inspired food and beers at the Kitchen and live music on March 17 at both North and South Nut.

After retiring from 22 years as a Naval aviator from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Joe Behan was ready to become his own boss. The would-be entrepreneur, married to Cristine, who is also a Naval aviator, cast about for the right business to which he could apply his enthusiasm and discipline. A homebrewer since he was stationed in Hawaii in 1994, the idea of a craft brewery, surprisingly, didn’t come to him until well past looking at ideas like garage floor castings and a few other non-starters.

March Beers from Chuckanut Brewery

March is known for many kinds of beers and Chuckanut will be releasing a lot of them and more soon. Marzen Lager is known as the March beer in Germany and Chuckanut’s Marzen is an award winner. St Paddy’s is the Irish celebration featuring Irish Stout, a favorite cold weather ale. And this March Chuckanut will release the first in their Brewers Namesake Series with our Marine Veteran Rick’s Lager, an orange colored lager with hoppy citrus pithy notes and a toasty finish. Another March beer is a collaboration with the new Twin Sisters Brewing in Bellingham. Before they have their brewery up and going we collaborated on an English style bitter called Nutty Sisters with them.

The cries of cheers once again herald the arrival of Anacortes Bier on the Pier! A two-day extravaganza of bier, ciders, food and music! Bring your thirst, and leave room to enjoy the smorgasbord of all the tasty foods on the pier. Come spend the weekend in beautiful Anacortes – enter the event beginning Friday evening from 5pm-9pm, and return on Saturday 12pm-6pm to finish the tour they embarked upon the night before. The event will be held at the Historic Port Warehouse located at 1st & Commercial, in downtown Anacortes allowing for spectacular views overlooking the Guemes Channel and Mount Baker. Set amidst the funky warehouse charm of Anacortes’ historic port building will be no fewer than 30 Washington State breweries, as well as 10 cideries, sharing their finest as guests work their way through the six tasting tickets that come with each day’s pass.

The Skagit Valley Farm to Pint FEST is the first-ever gathering of all 11 Skagit Breweries paired with Skagit Valley Restaurants and/or Farmers highlighting local Skagit Valley ingredients and featuring 3 Skagit-grown bands. Skagit Farm to Pint FEST is the Opening Gala and kick-off party for Skagit Beer Week commencing a 7 day marathon of beer dinners, tastings, tap takeovers and educational events that occur all over Skagit Valley and ends with the Skagit Valley Malting Showcase at Farmstrong Brewing.

Open House at Both Chuckanut Breweries

Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen in Bellingham and Chuckanut’s South Nut Brewery Tap Room in the heart of Skagit Valley will be open to the public on February 24th noon til 3 pm for a statewide-organized open house for all Washington State breweries. Every year the Washington Beer Commission aims to promote Washington beer by organizing this event giving the public an opportunity to explore their local breweries.

Chuckanut Brewery Taps and Bottles Doppelbock

Doppelbock is a beer rarely brewed in America but Chuckanut Brewery has brewed their rendition of this traditional German lager and aged it over 90 days at very cold temperatures last year and again this year as a treat for Sweethearts. Chuckanut’s new Doppelbock will be tapped at both Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen in Bellingham and the new Chuckanut South Nut Tap Room at the Port of Skagit on February 14 just in time for Valentine’s Day.
